Chair & Trustees

The Board of Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the Forum, developing the organisations aims, objectives and goals.

Trustees will be representing the whole of the Voluntary and Community Sector not just their individual organisation or area of interest.

All proposed trustees need to be aware of their responsibilities as both Company Directors and Charity Trustees and are advised to inform themselves of these through the websites of Companies House and the Charity Commission.

Trustees are expected to attend regular meetings and to undertake other tasks between meetings in line with the constitution. Trustees meet bi monthly.


Role Requirements

• Commitment to furthering the interests of the Voluntary and Community Sector in Calderdale through representational activity and the structures of the Community Forum and Calderdale Forward.
• Organisational and financial management skills and experience.
• To ensure that the Forum and its representatives function within the legal and regulatory framework of the sector and in line with the organisations' governing document, continually striving for best practice in governance.
• To uphold the legal duty invested in the position, undertaking such duties in a way that adds to the sectors confidence and trust in the Forum.
• To determine the overall direction and development of the forum through good governance and clear strategic planning.


Main Duties

• Ensuring the Forum complies with legislative and regulatory requirements, and acts within the confines of its governing document and in furtherance to organisational activities contained therein.
• Acting in the best interest of the Forum and it's members at all times.
• Promoting and developing the Forum in order for it to grow and maintain its relevance to the sector.
• Maintaining sound financial management of the Forum's resources, ensuring expenditure is in line with the organisations' objects, and investment activities meet accepted standards and policies.
• Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the Forum and its resources, striving for best practice in good governance.
• Acting as a counter-signatory on cheques and any applications for funds, if appropriate.
• To maintain absolute confidentiality about all sensitive/confidential information received in the course of trustee's responsibilities to the Forum.
