Rural Infrastructure Support Service

RISS - connecting rural communities is a BIG Lottery Funded project that will work with rural Voluntary and Community Sector groups to deliver support, guidance and information in rural areas.

We will also be working to make sure that the rural voluntary and community sector is viewed and appreciated as a valuable partner in the delivery of services to rural communities and to make sure decision making organisations understand the needs of the rural voluntary and community sector.
We will work with the decision making organisations to modify and develop plans to make certain they utilise the skills, knowledge and experience of rural voluntary and community sector groups and guarantee their plans reflect rural issues in West Yorkshire.

What can we do for you?

The approach we will take will ensure rural groups have better access to group development services, have a stronger and a more coordinated voice to be able to affect real change and to access relevant and clear information about issues affecting the rural voluntary and community sector in West Yorkshire.

Community Panning

Community planning is a process taken on by a local community to develop a vision for their future. The process involves collects viewpoints from all sections of the community and the end result is a vision that includes social, economic, environmental and cultural well being for the community and all those who live and work there.

Clusters

Clusters will be set up across West Yorkshire and they will be an opportunity to meet with other rural voluntary and community sector groups. By brining groups together we will be able to have a stronger voice with which we can make sure we are heard by the people and the organisations making the decisions that affect our groups. The clusters will also provide an opportunity to share information, promote joint action and identify training or issues that are relevant to all the groups involved.

Single Portal Website

Clear, up to date and relevant information is key to a successful voluntary and community sector. In order to do this we will be developing a single portal website with clear information about issues affecting the rural voluntary and community sector. The website will be an opportunity to share information, learn about policy changes that will affect the sector and find out about training and events. The single portal website will be a one-stop shop for all your information needs and information will be clear and in a format that avoids confusion. The launch date for the website is early 2010. Further details will be published closer to the launch date.
